CANCELLED!
Cancelled! We’ve reached a place where if something offends us, it must be cancelled once and for all for everyone. This cancelling is covering every facet of life from celebrities to cartoons, books to business.
Cancel culture destroys freedom of speech, making it so people won’t do anything out of line for fear of being cancelled. It also removes a valuable learning tool for future generations. If every reference to an issue has been destroyed, we will be doomed to repeat the evils of history. Thankfully, some are standing strong against this wave of “cancel culture.”
Following a post on her Instagram, Disney fired actress Gina Carano from her role in “The Mandalorian”. In her original post, she had compared accurate history to current political views, offending the Hollywood Left. Instead of backing down, Gina is now partnering with The Daily Wire to produce her own film. She says, “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
It’s a sad day for America when people are shamed for standing up for what they believe in. And yet this is what happened to Army veteran, Seth Jahn, after he objected to soccer players being allowed to kneel for the National Anthem. He said, “…in all of history, only one country has fought to abolish slavery, the United States of America, where nearly 400,000 men died to fight for the abolishment of slavery underneath the same stars and bars that our athletes take a knee for. Their sacrifice is tainted with every knee that touches the ground.” Even though he was called racist and removed from the U.S. Soccer Federation’s council, Seth Jahn remains firm in his convictions.
How are you standing against cancel culture? Take a stand, speak truth and facts, allow different viewpoints to be heard and discussed. Let’s stand together with these Patriots…..let’s defend the First Amendment that our founders put in place….the right to “free speech.”
